1991 FLHTCU radio volume disappears at 2000 rpm. If you drop back down to 2000 rpm or less, volume returns. Suspect automatic volume control, but don't know. Can anyone tell me if the AVC is part of the radio, or is separate from the radio? Thanks.
Part of the radio, you should be able to turn it off. Think it has more to do with mph than rpm. I suspect a short that happens at 2000 rpm (right vibration) If you have a headset plug it in and see if you can still hear through the headset.
on my 93 volume just goes up or down w. mph i could not turn it off or alter it if i remember. speedo is separate w/ cable how radio senses mph i do not know. maybe through turn sig canceler. check wiring dia..hope this helps some.
