Pan-Shovel. Love it!

Is that the original miles? Probably not. The speedo is after-market. Looks like it's been sitting a while. Base gasket leaks? Looks like something is going on since it appears oil has leaked over the right side lower cover. They may seal up once it's run a few times. If it's been sitting a while, and if it starts, be sure to warm it up before giving it any revs. Listen carefully in the pushrod area for anything unusual like banging. Same for the rocker boxes, listen for anything usual. Once it's warmed up, some of the normal cold start noises should quite down. You want to start it. Be sure to tell them not to warm it up before you get there. You want it cold when you start it so you can hear very thing.

Once it's warmed up, put it in gear and see if it "walks" when the clutch is in.

If a top end has not been done, it will need one, probably shortly.

S&S carb? The air filter cover is not original. Is the paint original?

Check for intake and exhaust leaks. Plan on changing the those gaskets. Look in the tank for rust.

Does it have the typical trans cross shaft leak?

Buttons missing from the controls. Front fender lower rear lower chrome skirt, not original.

From what I can see of the frame, it looks ok.

You need to check everything. Look at all the oils. Pull the point cover and check them.

More pictures from a lower angle would be good. Also some of the rear wheel, chain and sprocket would be good.

thanks SledDog...i cant answer much at this time as i haven't seen the bike or talked to the owner...as far as i know the paint is original, we plan on bringing down a complete set of gaskets plus a rebuild kit for the carb (or new carb depending) best part is the price..around 2k or less so i guy could afford to put some more into it

Outstanding. Let us know. I have some OEM stock parts from that model year. Let me know if you need something I'll look to see if I have it.

Check inside the chain guard to see if there's oil. That will be a good indicator of a cross shaft leak.

If you drain the trans, be careful of the drain plug. It's easy to strip the threads in the case. If pipe dope or form-a-gasket is on the plug, you may have to tap the hole to the next size to get it to seal..

All good information....thanks so much

you have shovel parts???

Nice, once you get it running, flush the oil tank and clean the tappet screen

It's got the potential to be a classic with some elbow grease. Good idea to pull the plugs shoot some oil in the cylinders and kick the holy jeebers out of her to make sure things are free and moving freely.
