150 tire on a '99 FLSTC

I own a 1999 FLSTC with a stock 130 size tire. Aftyer all these years I would like to change it for 150 tire. My Manual says that is possible to do but for me
the space between the rear belt and the tire is too close.
My questions are:
What is the easiest and more right think to do?

If the manual says it'll fit... then it'll probably fit. I'd just give it a whirl!
