Hello all,

I used rainx on my windshield and it left streaks and i cannot get them off any words of wisdom on how to remove the rainx with out damaging it? Also if you were going to replace your windshield do you have a MFR recommendation?

Thanks as always,

As far as replacement shields, I'm a big fan of the Clearview with the recurve. I simply don't like the looks of the Klockwerks shield and opinion seems to be that overall they don't do as good a job as others.

I just ordered an 8.5" Clearview Recurve for my Ultra, it's not here yet but I can't wait to try it. I did lots of research and Clearview received great feedback both on quality and customer service.

As most of the posters who have weighted in, RainX can damage the windscreen. I use a Windscreen Cleaner/Polish by Yamaha (sorry guys) and it takes out scraches and minor surface blemishes well. Certainly worth the small cost, not bad smelling or a harsh chemical treatment that is quick and easy. I would then go with Meguires products as Wildspirit says, if more aggressive product is needed, along with serious buffing and elbow grease.

I sold my '97 Heritage to my Dad and he cleaned it up with Pledge, the bike hasn't looked that good since I bought it. I thought he was smokin' something but after I searched the forum I found that it's a great cleaner for the bike and the windscreen. I'm going to try it because I have had bad luck with Rain X.

I have done a bit of work in the past on perspex and found the blemishes scratches etc can be removed by using a cutting compound same stuff that you use on paintwork
have on occasions used a 1200 grit paper to remove a problem then a medium and fine cutting compound to return to full clarity
takes a wee bit of time and effort but it does work

if the streaks are deep, i dont think u can get them off. i sometimes use rainx on helmet shield. never have problem.
how did you apply it?

car wax can also be used on plastic, and quite safe too, good enough to repell water.
