Everyone here's been so helpful, thought I would post regarding a resolved brake noise issue, in the event it's useful to others.
My '03 Deuce developed an loud irritating noise from the rear brakes on slow decel; a loud groaning noise you might associate with the T-Rex in 'Jurassic Park'.
Changed pads, but noise returned. Long to short; my mechanic discovered that the little rubber-rod gizmo (bumper) at the bottom of the caliper had worked loose from the caliper body. Once this was properly reinserted, voila, no more T-Rex.
