02 Road king engine noise

I have a 2002 Carberated road king. I have noticed recently a kind of "ping" when I shut the throttle down quickly. The noise is much more evident when the engine is cold and seems to go away as it gets up to temp. I thought it was the primary chain tension, I checked it cold at 7/8" to 1" and checked it again hot it was barely 3/8". The bike has 11,000 miles. I have owned it since 5,500 miles. I have never noticed the noise before. Looking for any help or suggestions.

I have a stage 1 mod and I always use premium gas. The noise is almost a chink sound but only when I shut the throttle down quickly.
Thanks for the response.

Check the rear belt pully. Jack the back of the bike up and rock the tire back and forth and see if you hear it.
